While only reporting for a few years, Geanell has taken the initiative to put her degree in political science to use and attend NCRA’s Legislative Boot Camp 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2008 in an effort to lobby for funding to address the need for broadcast captioners throughout the country to meet the demands of the federal Americans With Disabilities and Telecommunications Acts. The training session is held annually at the nation's capitol in Washington, D.C. where participants actually meet with their state congressmen and senators and staff members.
