Geanell C. Adams, RPR CSR CRI CP is a native Mississippian. Educated at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and Prince Institute for Professional Studies in Montgomery, Alabama, Geanell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, a Masters degree in Community Development, as well as degrees in Court Reporting and Medical Transcription. Geanell is a registered professional reporter, certified reporting instructor, certified paralegal, certified shorthand reporter, and medical transcriptionist.
Geanell is also a U.S. Army Reserves veteran serving with the 306th Field Hospital Unit in Memphis, TN during Operation Desert Storm, and thus, promotes the Veterans History Project.
Geanell has worked in federal and state courts throughout the state of Mississippi to include Youth/County, Chancery, and Circuit Courts and U.S. Bankruptcy Court, is active in both state and national court reporter associations.
Currently, Geanell is the lead instructor in the Court Reporting Technology Department at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi.  It is her vision to see the program move up the ladder as one of the country's premier programs.
Geanell is Past  President of Mississippi Court Reporters Association (2006-2007). She became the first African American in the association's 40-year history to hold this title. Geanell has served on the legislative committee 2002-2004 and chaired the committee 2007-2008, served from 2004-2005 as vice president of Mississippi Court Reporters Association where she was Membership Committee Chairperson, responsible for publishing for the association's first for-profit membership directory. Geanell served 2005-2006 as Mississippi Court Reporters Association's President-Elect and Chairperson of the Student Mentoring Committee and member of the Publication Committee. Geanell personally mentors 3 new reporters and 25 students.
While serving her state association, Geanell serves also as a member of National Court Reporters Association’s Freelance Community of Interest Task Force 2003-2008. She currently serves as co-chair of the task force 2006-2009. Geanell was appointed to National Court Reporters Association's PAC Governing Board for a two-year appointment beginning January 2006, chairing it 2008-2011; appointed to the NCRF Angels Fundraising Committee 2006-2008; elected to the National Committee of State Associations (NCSA) 2006-2008; lastly, Geanell has been appointed to the National Court Reporters Association Dictation Development Committee for 2006-2007.
Believing in recruitment and continued education, Geanell travels throughout the country and the state of Mississippi conducting seminars for judges, fellow reporters, students, and association members.
